OUTSTANDING news in LGBT land people!!!! Drum roll please……..President Barack Obama has signed the hate crime protection act ! The bill was passed in to law this afternoon and will work punish people who are responsible for hate crimes and/or crimes based on sexual orientation/race/gender/or religious background.
The parents of Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. started pushing for this policy over a decade ago and are ecstatic legislative branches have finally realized how important of an issue this is.
“We appreciate everyone who worked so hard on this bill. My son was taken at such an early age and we hope this law will help prevent other families from going through what we experienced,” said Stella Byrd, mother of James Byrd. “Even though we’re different colors and different sexual orientations or gender identities, God made us all and he loves us all.”
The LGBT community is excited and proud to see the government taking action in making streets safer for people to openly live there life. We are only a few steps away from receiving the equality we deserve! Thank you Barack Obama! This is the first pro-gay bill passed and set in stone since Stonewall!

Whats the tea in LGBT land? Academy award-winning screen writer and LGBT boy Dustin Lance Black was banned from speaking at Hope College in Michigan after the Dean of students said he was too opinionated of a speaker. The deans exact words were ”from past experience, strongly opinionated speakers usually don’t further academic discussions about gay, lesbian or transgender issues.”
What an insult to Black, the students, and the LGBT community. The screenwriters talk with students was going to be focused on the aspects of screenwriting, and then an open discussion on sexuality. Students gay, and straight were upset about the deans decision to ban the screenwriter from speaking and some students wrote letters and spoke out on the issue. This is just another sad example of homophobia thriving in the world.

Lately it seems like alot of really solid couples have been breaking up or arguing more than normal over some petty things. Everyone knows its normal for couples to have disagreements from time to time but how much arguing is too much?
Lets begin to think about the reasons why we choose to argue over the topics we pick to argue about. Is it actually something major or is it something minor that could probably just be over looked to prevent an argument……Arguments are damaging to relationships and should NOT be made a part of any couples routine. Keep arguing to a minimum. Your relationship will last SO much longer.
If your in a relationship where your arguing every day and stressed out all of the time, you need to evaluate the reasons why your dealing with what your dealing with and make sure its worth whatever heartache your having to deal with. If it is, the two of you definitely need to address the issues before they get worse. Sometimes breaks are needed and if a break does come up, true love will draw you back together in the end. Cherish your relationships and take no one for granted!
